Saroha is a non-profit organization that intended to preserve, celebrate and promote the culture of Indonesia. We focus on tradition and cultural values of North Sumatera, which aims to contribute and help improve the lives of its people back home. This vision and mission is applied through a variety of visual and performing arts activities in the form of festivals, concerts, traditional ritual processions, seminars, exhibitions, education and humanitarian efforts.
Saroha was established on July 6, 2016 in Washington D.C., founded by a group of people who loves the culture of Indonesia, especially those of North Sumatra, Batak in particular. The love and pride of our home-country, especially our ethnic roots, was the main driver behind the establishment of this organization. We are committed to hand-in-hand promoting our culture to the people in the United States of America.
To accomplish our mission, we are equipping ourselves with as many traditional music instruments as possible. We are still in process to complete our collection at this point. The support of those who donated and ship those instruments are greatly appreciated.
Saroha is not limited to people of Batak and/or of North Sumatra's descendants, but it is open to those of many cultures and nations, who love and willing to promote the culture of North Sumatra. So if you want to join, us, kindly please contact us.
